Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig (Tshíhi̊ /cig/ [militia] [warrior]) is a subtropical Town located in Utshtewyùf County, Nùàgvan Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig is derived from the Tauric language, as Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig was founded by Maerdes Wynner, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig receives an average of 192 cm/y (75 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 5726 m (18786 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig was founded durring the late 9th century, by Maerdes Wynner. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 9th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig is was constructed arround several premissive flagstone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town sits comfortably behind a palisade wall complete with a timber gatehouse and battlments. Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's timber-based walls are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Right off the bat Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. This wealth has brought the town nothing but neurosis, if you can believe your eyes. Everyone acts as if you’re out to take a piece of them. Every door is locked and every window barred. Efforts are made to make you feel welcome, but only in the public areas of the town, particularly the market.

Civic Infrastructure

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's parks.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. In spite of the Galvanic Grid, these lights continue to use their old fule sources to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's natural decorations nor waterways.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's locals are divided into several castes. They may be organized by social role, by imputed nobility of birth, by ethnic origins, or any other dividing principle, but they cannot imagine any other way of organizing themselves. A hierarchy of castes is not inevitable, but there will be social and legal limits applied to ensure that each caste remains fixed in its function. The outside world may or may not respect these distinctions when dealing with the locals.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by their massive, monolithic and 'blocky' appearance with a rigid geometric style. It was best known for its rough, unfinished surfaces, unusual shapes, heavy-looking materials, straight lines, and small windows. Modular elements were often used to form masses representing specific functional zones, grouped into a unified whole.

In Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig rainbows form quite often above the Town.

The Human Juju Zombie near Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves performance art to channel Enchantment energies of tier 2 via recitation of poetic epics.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig was attacked by a renegade group of the army. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig lost 249 people, 142 livestock, and 27 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 103, when members of Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's militia enacted an operation to delay the operations of the enemy. The operation was complicated by the army's activities draw the wrath of formerly neutral parties. The conflict ended with the defense of the depot against a siege, which ended in a crushing defeat for Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Odíhg Tshíhi̊cig's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
